API keys authenticate MCP calls. Each key begins with ttm_ and belongs to your Totem account.

Create a key

Create a key in the dashboard and copy it immediately. Totem shows the plaintext exactly once. After that, Totem stores only a hash and cannot reveal the original value.

Store it safely

  • Put the key only in the supported secret or header configuration for your MCP client.
  • Do not put it in your game archive.
  • Do not commit it to Git.
  • Do not paste it into CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, screenshots, or support messages.

Use more than one key

You can create separate keys for different MCP clients or devices. Revoking one key does not affect the others.

If a key leaks

  1. Create a replacement key.
  2. Update the affected MCP client.
  3. Confirm that the five Totem tools appear.
  4. Revoke the leaked key.

If a key is lost

Create a replacement. A lost key cannot be recovered.
